Experience

Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Oracle  July 2013 - present

-Full stack developer in the Publisher team of Oracle-Vitrue using Ruby on Rails and Backbone.js.

Developer at Perceptual Networks  May 2012 - May 2013 (1 year)

-Built consumer web/mobile products for networking and finding new people with video at the core.

-Front end web development using Ruby on Rails and Backbone.js

-Analytics/tracking/reporting across Android, iOS and web using Ruby on Rails and d3.js. -Contributed a significant amount of code to the codebase of the Android application using Java in the Eclipse IDE.

-Contributed code to the server-side API using Ruby on Rails.

Founder at Feistie LLC  November 2011 - Present

I've developed Feistie.com using Ruby and the Sinatra framework for the backend. The site is hosted on Heroku. I developed the front end using Bootstrap from Twitter, JQuery, JQuery-UI and lots of custom javascript and even a little photoshopping. I am looking for funding and a possible co-founder if we have complementary skills.

Founder at Hear The Scene  May 2011 - November 2011 (7 months)

Hear the Scene is a local music listing website for the Philadelphia area. We list live music and DJ nights. Every listing includes a streaming video or music sample so the user can more efficiently find an event they will enjoy.

I was the main developer and originator of the company. My technical work included coding HTML, CSS, javascript(jQuery) and PHP. I also have developed our current logo in Photoshop. My partner in the venture generally manages our database. In addition we've had some helpful contribution to the CSS styling from an ex-colleague of mine at Drivve LLC.

Scientist at Continuum Energy Technologies  October 2010 - June 2011 (9 months)

Developed theory and analyzed data using Matlab and Excel for novel experiments concerning the manipulation of the electronic structure of various metals. Daily activities required me to manipulate sets of data with 10,000+ rows and 100+ columns. Worked directly with the CEO; developed documents for use in creating future business and scientific plans as well as summaries for investors.

Senior Developer / Programmer at Drivve LLC May 2010 - October 2010 (6 months)

Add new functionality using Javascript and Ruby to our browser based document management software.

Hotel Contract Negotiator at Non-profit Organization  2008 - 2010 (2 years)

I negotiated contracts for weekend conventions with the Hyatt, Marriott, Sheraton and Omni Hotels in Atlanta, GA on behalf of two different non-profit organizations. This was volunteer work, I was not payed for this service. Two of these contracts were ultimately used in hosting conventions for these organizations. The larger convention had approximately 2400 attendees. Both the non-profit organization and the hotel saw a substantial profit from the event.

Graduate Research Assistant | Computational Neuroscience at Georgia Institute of Technology  May 2006 - May 2010 (4 years 1 month)

-Developed numerical simulations of coupled neurons to create bifurcation diagrams of their equilibrium phase difference using Matlab.

-Developed code to find unstable periodic orbits in non-linear oscillator systems.

-Used an averaging technique to produce analytic bifurcation diagrams of the equilibrium phase difference between coupled neurons.

-Developed code to numerically calculate the phase gradients of individual neurons.

-Conducted studies of the effects of heterogeneity on the synchronization properties of coupled neurons.

Teaching Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology  August 2003 - June 2007 (3 years 11 months)

-Developed lectures and lesson plans for freshman level physics courses. -Lectured to classes containing up to 30 students.

-Guided students through "hands on" laboratory experiments.

-Graded tests and homework.

Graduate Research Assistant | Atomic Physics at Georgia Institute of Technology  August 2003 - May 2005 (1 year 10 months)

I worked for two years as a graduate student in an experimental atomic physics laboratory. We studied sodium Bose-Einstein condensates. I gained experience with a Ring-dye laser as well as building and operating a diode laser system. I also built various electronic components for the experiment and developed designs for an oven to be used in a future, dual species Bose-Einstein condensation experiment.

Research Assistant | Gravitational Wave Astronomy at University of Pisa  June 2003 - July 2003 (2 months)

- Developed improved control circuitry for accelerometers to detect nanometer scale

movements for the LIGO experiment.

Research Assistant | Plasma Physics at Princeton Plasma Phyiscs Laboratory  April 2002 - September 2002 (6 months)

- Modified and maintained Ultra High Vacuum Systems.

- Designed and/or built various electronics(Buffers, Amplifiers, etc.).

- Studied of the effects of spatially periodic quadrupole electric fields on heavy ion beams(PTSX)

Research Assistant | Space Physics at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory  April 2001 - September 2001 (6 months)

- Developed expertise in identifying the physical signatures of the Magnetosheath for identifying the time intervals the Geotail satellite was located in this region.

- Developed software that used these time intervals to extract and format relevant data from large databases using IDL.
